Lee Gap Chul Conflict And Reaction

Lee Gap-chul was born in 1959 in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, and grew up in Jinju. He graduated from the Department of Photography, Shingu College in 1984. He has travelled to various corners of Korea and has taken photographs of images that portray the joys and sorrows our ancestors, their cheerful nature and persistent vitality. He has held solo exhibitions such as Yankees on the Streets (1984), Images of the City (1986), The Land of the Others 1988, Conflict and Reaction (2002), and Energy-Qi (2007) and he has also participated in numerous collective exhibitions. He was invited abroad to attend the FOTOFEST 2000 in Houston, U. S., the Photographie Contemporaine Coreenne in 2002, in Montpellier, France, etc. His publications include Conflict and Reaction (2002), In Autumn (2011), and Lee Gapchul (2012). He has been awarded the Sagamihara Asia Photographer Prize and Lee Myongdong Prize, etc. and is currently represented by the Vu Gallery in France.
